Centers

Regional Centers in Los Angeles County

Regional centers are nonprofit private corporations that contract with the Department of Developmental Services to provide or coordinate services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities. They have offices throughout California to provide a local resource to help find and access the many services available to individuals and their families. There are seven regional centers in Los Angeles County, each serving a specific geographic area. A person’s regional center is determined by their residence.

To be eligible for services, a person must have one of the following developmental disability that begins before the person’s 18th birthday, be expected to continue indefinitely and present a substantial disability : 1) autism, 2) cerebral palsy, 3) epilepsy, 4) intellectual disability or 5) a condition that requires services similar to that of an intellectual disability. Infants and toddlers (age 0 to 36 months) who are at risk of having developmental disabilities or who have a developmental delay may also qualify for services.
